Apex PA Guidelines on Replacing Parts
In the Apex series, each PA section is composed of (2) AE stealth Fet’s, 1 Apex tank filter and a combiner. The combiner module can combine up to 2 PA sections. An Apex model 5513 uses 4 PA sections. The entire PA of a 5513 will be comprised of 8 Fets, 4 tank filters and 2 combiners.
The AE Stealth Fet’s are of multiple die design. By having multiple dies, a section in a fet can be faulty while the remaining sections can still turn the fet off and on giving a pass during a simple short test using a voltage meter. Apex Fet’s usually test good using a basic short test even when bad! Any Fet with some smoke discoloration on the top of it should be considered bad. Although the Fet paired to bad one may exhibit no obvious signs of faults, it still may be faulty. This is why they are always replaced in pairs. Questionable Fet’s should never be used. We offer free testing on these parts with a purchase of Fet’s. For example: With an order of 2 fet’s, we will give free testing on 2 Apex fets. All shipping is at your cost.
These are installed in pairs 8705117 paired with 8705123. Part model 8705128 with a 8705129 and a part model 8705146 with a 8705161. We do not sell individual Fet’s with a warranty. These must be purchased in pairs to be covered under warranty.
